Seville Unveils Line-Up for the 2025 Novilladas de Promoción Series

The Real Maestranza de Caballería will once again host the traditional Novilladas de Promoción this July—an annual series of bullfights without picadors that celebrates its 38th edition this year, reaffirming its commitment to the future of bullfighting. The line-up, just announced by Empresa Pagés, features 18 young hopefuls in a competition that will culminate in a grand final on 24 July.

This July, Seville renews its commitment to bullfighting’s next generation with the official presentation of the 38th Novilladas de Promoción de Nuevos Valores. Organised by Empresa Pagés, the series will take place at 9:00 p.m. on the evenings of Thursday 3, 10, 17 and 24 July at the iconic Real Maestranza.

The official presentation was held in the historic Salón de Carteles of the bullring, led by Ramón Valencia and his son, Ramón Valencia Canorea. Also attending were Ricardo Suárez Antúnez, the Andalusian regional government’s delegate, and Manuel Ruiz Rojas on behalf of Caja Rural del Sur.

This series, long considered a springboard for future professional bullfighters, is known for its youthful energy and high standard of contestants. This year, 42 aspiring novilleros applied to take part, with 18 selected—eight of them from Seville. Most participants come from renowned bullfighting schools such as those in Seville, Écija, Córdoba, Málaga, Albacete, Valencia and Béziers (France), while three entrants will compete independently.

The livestock line-up has also been confirmed, maintaining the series’ commitment to quality. Hermanos Expósito will open the competition, joined by Villamarta, Las Monjas and Gabriel Rojas—the latter chosen for the final on 24 July.

Esteban Molina (Écija), Mauro Macandro (Triana), Javier Fernández (Ciudad Real), Alejandro González (Albacete), David Ramírez (Utrera), Blas Márquez (Linares).

Thursday 10 July – Young bulls from Villamarta for:
Daniel Artazos (Valencia), Manuel Quintana (Córdoba), Javier Torres ‘Bombita’ (Seville), Miguel Vázquez (Seville), David Gutiérrez (Badajoz), Clovis (Béziers, France).

Thursday 17 July – Young bulls from Las Monjas for:
El Gali (Algeciras), Agustín de Antonio (Seville), Jaime Padilla (Málaga), Manuel Díaz (La Algaba), Julio Aparicio (El Juli), Manuel Domínguez (Seville).

Thursday 24 July – Young bulls from Gabriel Rojas for:
The three finalists selected by the ring’s artistic jury.
